My original guitar design was based off of two parabolic curves like a satellite dish. The goal was elimination of sharp corners that could cause standing wave cancellation that negatively impacts the tone of the guitar. I had people for years saying: "The back is round and so am I, why can't you make it fit my body better. I didn't think it was that big of an issue, but finally made a couple of prototypes and, yes, it does fit better if you are not as skinny as you used to be.
I don't have a name for the new back, I have my original, which could be called the classic and the new one, which I'm just referring to as the alternative back. At the Arlington show, I had someone refer to it as a "beer belly back." It's not really a new model, it's available on every acoustic guitar I make. So whether you want the Canis Major, Canis Minor, Double cutaway or Hollow body electrics, you can get it at no extra cost like most of my options. Justin Johnson did a review of the new back on a Pegasus Acoustic, a link to that is below.
New and improved and no extra cost in the same sentence?
Yes, I do business a little different than most companies. You think that's unusual, here's another one:
Left hand guitars available for no extra cost.
